Anahita Sharma is a fourth year liberal arts major at the University of Cincinnati studying women's, gender, and sexuality studies, sociology, and creative writing. Anahita has a passion for social justice and has been involved in UC organizations and programs such as Women in Leadership and Learning (WILL) and the Racial Awareness Program (RAPP). During Anahita's third year at UC, she was diagnosed with a hip impingement and a tilted pelvis that made walking long distances painful. This pain, along with other chronic illness, made it impossible for Anahita to get around campus for the first week of her junior year. She was able to borrow Sara's wheelchair and use it for the majority of fall semester, which enabled her to stay at UC. Since then, she has continued to learn how to be an advocate for disability rights and accessibility, and she guest facilitated a UC Feminists meeting about ableism and campus accessibility the next semester. Anahita was recently able to further this love of facilitating social justice conversations by accepting a position as RAPP Co-Facilitator for the upcoming school year.
